Behavior Reward Chart for Kids — Practical System for Ages 3–8
Ages 3–8Behavior charts work best when they focus on positive behaviors to increase — not negative behaviors to stop. This distinction matters: 'earned kind words' is more effective than 'no hitting chart' because the child knows what TO do.

🔑 Keys to Making It Work
- Target 1–2 behaviors at a time: Overloaded charts overwhelm young kids.
- Catch them being good: Narrate the star: 'You used kind words just now — that's a star!'
- Immediate, consistent marking: Don't promise stars later. Mark now.
- Connect stars to values: 'Kindness stars show what kind of person you are becoming.'
